As the Democratic Convention kicks off, here is a portrait of the candidate as First Lady by local artist Ginny Stanford

Portrait of Hilary Clinton

Local artist Ginny Stanford, originally from Missouri and the widow of poet Frank Stanford, painted one of the three official portraits of Hillary Clinton that all First Ladies are required to have as their term concludes. Ginny had many connections to the Clintons because of the time she spent living in Arkansas with her husband. In addition, the National Portrait Gallery had acquired one of her stunning portraits of writer M. F. K. Fisher, which the Clintons saw during President Clinton’s tenure.

Ginny is a long time resident of Sonoma County and currently lives in Forestville.
